I am a second-year PhD student in Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago, co-advised by Dr. Allison Squires and Dr. Samantha Riesenfeld. I received my B.S. degree in Applied Marine Biology at Tohoku University, Japan before moving to Chicago for my PhD.Â
My biggest broad interest in research is combining physics, chemistry, and biology all at once by gathering physical observables of a rationally engineered chemical system to understand highly complex biology. To do this, I design experiments and detection schemes with single-molecule fluorescence spectroscopy and DNA nanotechnology, develop machine learning pipelines to extract rich information, and apply my platforms to understand complex immune pathways.
